Boundaries
Dawn diver of the infinite,
plunging
through brave twilights of anesthesia,
your mind a tumbling
mosaic, as you lie
motionless beneath a surgeon's cunning,
prey to a
generous amnesia,
afloat between worlds, floating free of words,
all need
and sense and eloquence reduced
to a flickering storm on the
monitors,
a dozen cities sprawl
between us now,
but I can see gloved hands strolling
through the pastures
of your flesh,
and hear your heart, that old Caruso,
belting out its song
- the lyrics say:
"We live a moment among the
new roses,
sighting paradise in a backward glance,"
and tell a tale of
soul-journeys and strife,
of pleasure principles and neuroses,
a tale of
joy and mayhem I know by heart.
Waiting for news in the suburbs of hope,
I
hymn your liveliness as I love my life.
